Flagstaff-centric Tours
This is NOT intended to be an all-inclusive list, and I've probably overlooked something
important. If you have anything to offer, please click on the "feedback" link at the bottom
of the page and let me know in an email...
Weather Weather is a strange thing in northern Arizona. It's possible to freeze any time of the
year - generally it never happens in summer, and if it does, it would probably be at night. But
there's typically a 3-5 degree difference in temperature for every 1000 feet of elevation. If
Phoenix is just under 1000 feet, and Flagstaff is right around 7000, I normally tell people
it's almost always 25 degrees cooler in Flagstaff than Phoenix.
The Wupatki/Sunset Crator loop in the list below ranges from 4500 to 8000 feet. The local paper
(Arizona Daily Sun)
reported a high of 64 according on April 7, 2007, and one of the 1800 riders said he saw 77
on the ride. Dramatic temperature swing is something you need to be prepared for.
Additionally, when the sun goes down, so does the temperature. For April 7, 2007, the paper
said the low was 27, and that was probably 5 or 6 AM. Once the sun comes up, the temps rise quickly.
If you visit various web pages for weather information, the zip code is 86001. Click on the following links:

Restaurants I'm not going to even attempt to list all the places available! This is a tourist area and you'll find almost
every imaginable fast food and chain in Flagstaff. We do, however, offer the following as some of our
favorites:
Need More Suggestions? As mentioned previously, Flagstaff is a tourist town. There are a lot of web sites that provide information about
the city and the area. From the first one in this list of just a few, you can also download maps and guides that you
might find useful:

Since we live here, we occasionally get questions from people who want
suggestions about places to eat and good rides. I know I've answered those queries a
number of times, and figured it was about time I started accumulating and publishing that information.
